What is Suzuki?

The Suzuki method was developed in Japan by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and uses the "Mother-tongue" approach.  This is based on the concept that if children learn to speak a language by listening and imitating, they can learn to understand and play music the same way.   The String School of New Jersey teaches Suzuki in combination with traditional methods depending on the needs of each individual.

How does it work?

Anyone age 3 to adult is invited to take a trial lesson to meet the teacher.  Upon acceptance to the studio, each student is then assigned a weekly lesson time based on instructor availability.  Lessons are also available twice weekly if desired - this is especially effective for very young students.  Parents of students under 10 years old are encouraged to attend lessons so that they can assist with home practice.  Students are then expected to practice what is assigned in the lesson a minimum ...
